Welcome to the INSIGHT-Developmental Disabilities!

We are excited to introduce the INSIGHT-DD study, a community-engaged research project focused on improving healthcare for individuals with developmental disabilities. Our goal is to create a more inclusive, strengths-based approach to healthcare that truly meets the needs of neurodivergent individuals.

Healthcare for individuals with developmental disabilities has often been shaped without fully including the voices of those most affected. Many traditional approaches focus on changing behaviors rather than supporting strengths, which can unintentionally cause harm or reduce quality of life. The INSIGHT-DD study is important because it aims to shift that narrative—by identifying and promoting healthcare practices that affirm neurodiversity and prioritize well-being, we can help create a system that truly supports individuals as they are.

About the Team

We believe that the best solutions come from working together. That’s why we’re not setting all the goals of this study in advance—we’re inviting community members, self-advocates, caregivers, and professionals to help shape them with us. Whether you have lived experience, clinical expertise, or just a passion for inclusive healthcare, your voice matters. Together, we’ll co-create a vision for what affirming, strengths-based healthcare should look like.

Get Involved

We believe that the best way to create meaningful change is by working together with the community. We invite community members to join us in designing and shaping the study. Your insights and experiences are invaluable to us, and we are committed to making sure your voice is heard.

Right now, we are recruiting adults with developmental disabilities and their families to participate. Right now, all meetings will be held virtually.
