Matthew Watson is a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist recognized by the American College of Sports Medicine. Matt joined the Airborne Hazard and Burn Pit Center of Excellence (AHBPCE) in 2018. He has worked in a clinical setting for 3 years in assessing and developing treatment intervention programs for individuals with chronic cardiac and pulmonary disease. He provides direct clinical care by conducting Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) and Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) on Veterans with exercise intolerance, unknown dyspnea and fatigue in relation to their environmental and occupational exposures overseas. He is currently working on developing a Clinical Exercise Prescription Clinic individually tailored to Veterans seen at the AHBPCE in helping to reduce symptoms and improve overall cardiorespiratory fitness.
Matt also serves as a Research Assistant and collaborates with the team in research recruitment and data collection for several DOD/VA funded studies. These projects focused on Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans. Matt has earned his Bachelors in Exercise Physiology and Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology at East Stroudsburg University in 2016.
