The LHS STAR NJ program will help support investigator- and health system-initiated LHS projects within which we can embed LHS Scholars.  We seek to support a portfolio of projects that will address the lifespan, diverse healthcare settings, populations, disease states, and AHRQ/PCORI priority areas with the goal to improve healthcare delivery, health, and equity in NJ.

LHS Project Expectations:

  • Aim to improve the quality, safety, outcomes, efficiency, equity, or patient-centeredness of care in the RWJBarnabas Health System or one of our affiliated health systems and institutional partners.
  • Identify and engage patients and key stakeholders in the design and conduct of the project
  • Project teams should include members from relevant health system and/or partner clinical, analytics, and operations teams for comprehensive refinement of program design, execution, and interpretation.
  • Require executive sponsorship from a health system or affiliated institutional clinical, business, or organizational leader to assure that increase the likelihood of project success and subsequent dissemination and implementation

We aim to help support a range of investigator- and health-system initiated projects of various durations, size, and scope.  LHS Projects will be funded in multiple different ways including: directly by the LHS STAR NJ AHRQ grant, with in-kind research infrastructure and methodological support from the LHS STAR NJ program and other Rutgers research entities, and by our health system and affiliated partners.
