Madinah Elamin is the Director of Mentoring & Nontraditional Student Programs at Douglass Residential College. She has secured grants and funding for international service learning initiatives and supported many diverse efforts to increase equity and access for students as they participate in global learning and other opportunities while engaged in higher education. Madinah has an unwavering commitment to Rutgers students and student-centered initiatives. Her energy and dedication is evidenced by her work on multiple fronts. She has led the Douglass Mentoring Working Group, created the “Black Women’s Voices”, “LGBTQ+ Safer Spaces” and “Platicas”, three initiatives meant to support and provide safe spaces for Black, Queer and Latinx Douglass students respectively, and has been leading the Barbara Voorhees Peer Mentoring program/course for the last two years. Madinah is currently obtaining her Doctorate of Education with research interests in critical service learning and civic engagement initiatives.
