Monday-Friday Daily Activities
Note: Daytime and evening camp activities take place throughout the week within the surrounding classrooms and rehearsal spaces of the Nicholas Music Center, located at 85 George Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901-1411. See map.
- 8:45am – Check-in each morning
- 9:00am – Improv Workshop
- 10:15am – AM Ensemble Rehearsals
- LUNCH
- 1:15pm – Masterclasses
- 2:30pm – PM Ensemble Rehearsals

What Musical Items to Bring for the Week?
For Brass
Students are to bring their own horn and basic mutes and key/slide oil. Doubles (such as Flugel Horn) are encouraged but optional. Portable brass instrument stands are highly recommended.
For Reeds
Students are to bring their own horn and extra reeds. Saxophone Doubles (such as flute and clarinet) are encouraged but optional. Portable reed instrument stands are highly recommended.
For Piano
All rehearsal rooms contain a piano. Piano students are not to bring their own portable keyboards or amps.
For Guitar/Bass
Students are to bring their own instruments, and all rehearsal rooms contain a bass amp. Guitarists are asked to bring their own portable (small and light) amps for use in rehearsals, if possible. A limited number of guitar amps will be on hand for rehearsals, and the final Friday evening concert spaces will have guitar and bass amps in place for all to use. Students must always bring their own audio patch cables and replacement strings. Portable guitar/bass stands are highly recommended.
For Drums
All rehearsal rooms contain a full drum kit that includes Toms, snare drum, and cymbal stands. Students are to bring their own cymbals (ride, crash, hi-hats), sticks/brushes, and a Hi-Hat Clutch (the link is an example), all of which may easily fit in a cymbal bag. Drum students are not to bring their own drum kits.
Other
All rehearsal spaces contain sheet music stands. Students do not need to bring their own.
