RISE students in Rutgers T shirts

RISE (Research Intensive Summer Experience) at Rutgers seeks to pave the pathway to graduate study and research careers. We particularly encourage participation by underrepresented minority, disadvantaged, and first-generation college students as well as students from Predominantly Undergraduate Institutions. RISE and its Partner Programs are hosting 53 Scholars this summer, selected from over 1,000 applicants. This summer marks our 20th anniversary! Historically a 10-week residential program, RISE pivoted this year to virtual format. Students from 37 sending schools throughout the United States and U.S. territories as far away as Guam participated remotely in research and scholarship under the guidance of carefully matched Rutgers faculty mentors. A rigorous suite of professional development activities complemented the research, including scholarly writing and speaking, preparation for graduate school, guest speakers, and GRE preparation. Seminars included timely topics such as cutting-edge COVID-19 research at Rutgers and clinical management.
