Joseph Koziol, MD, Chair of Neurosurgery at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) in Livingston, formerly known as Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Dr. Koziol has been an attending physician at CBMC for almost 30 years.

Dr. Koziol graduated from Georgetown University in 1979 and received his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During his general surgery residency, Dr. Koziol performed research on hemorrhagic shock. After falling in love with neurosurgery, he was asked to be the first resident in the newly-approved neurological surgery residency program at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School which started in 1988. Dr. Koziol completed his residency there in 1992 and has been on staff at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center ever since.

Active in neurosurgical education, Dr. Koziol is the Associate Program Director of the Neurosurgery Residency program at CBMC. His clinical interests include adult degenerative spine and oncologic spine reconstruction, as well as peripheral nerve and brain tumor surgery.

The Neurosurgery Department at CBMC offers the integrated and comprehensive spine and brain care for adults and children. The outstanding neurosurgeons are acknowledged leaders in their field.
