The main objective of the Cohort is to continuously define and enhance the vision and mission of the program. It consists of faculty and staff from Rutgers-Newark and a community representative. The community representative’s voice is vital to the committee, advising the NewGeo faculty and staff on maintaining their commitment to equity and the community.

The Cohort is also positioned to develop the framework for cultural transformation. They create pathways and advocate for student agency and success, encourage graduate students to embrace their potential as change agents, and aid in encouraging and developing the future geoscience workforce.
