My name is Gabriela Casco and I am a Central American Minors program caseworker and immigration legal assistant for the International Rescue Committee. A great deal of my position is to help file applications that could reunite families from Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala after years of separation and policy change. In addition, I help the department’s immigration attorney with filing different immigration benefits applications such as citizenship, residency, and work permits. I have a MA in Political Science and Global Policy, concentration in human rights, gender equality, and international law here from Rutgers University. In addition, I received my Bachelor’s at Rutgers University-New Brunswick with a major in women and gender studies and an anthropology minor. I have past internship experience with UNICEF USA, the IRC, and CAWP. I plan to continue my professional career with a focus on migration policy and child advocacy.
