Salma Elakbawy is the Data Services Assistant at the Center for American Women and Politics. Salma received her M.A. in Political Science: UN and Global Policy Studies from Rutgers University-New Brunswick with a concentration in women’s rights, environmentalism, and public health. Her graduate research explored the different ways global policies disproportionately impact women and the importance of ecofeminism. Prior to CAWP, she has worked at the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at Rutgers, the Institute for Research on Women, the Feminist Majority Foundation, and the Center for Women’s Global Leadership. Additionally, Salma graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Women’s and Gender studies from Rutgers where she was also an Eagleton Undergraduate Associate, an Institute for Women’s Leadership Scholar, the recipient of the Emily Hickman Award for Global Understanding, and the Paul Robeson African American Alumni Alliance Award for Continuing Graduate Studies.
