Currently, she serves as a technical research advisor to support improved data collection around contraceptive service availability and utilization for the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) and the New Jersey Pregnancy Risk Monitoring System (PRAMS) and on the Research Advisory Board for Power to Decide. She is the recipient of the New Jersey Health Foundation 2025 Excellence in Research Award as well as the Carl S. Shultz Lifetime Achievement Award from the Sexual and Reproductive Health section of the American Public Health Association.
“As a researcher with a long commitment to sexual and reproductive health, I include midwifery in the scope of my research because it makes visible how reproductive autonomy is shaped not only by if and when to have a baby, but by how care is delivered and decisions are supported. Expanding the midwifery workforce expands options across the reproductive life course, from contraception and abortion care to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support.”
