Together We are Growing Midwifery

Midwives gathered together posing with their certificates.

Midwifery preceptors are essential to expanding and sustaining New Jersey’s midwifery workforce. Their clinical teaching ensures that students gain the skills and experience needed for safe, high-quality practice.

The NJ Midwifery Education Project provides focused educational programming that helps practicing midwives strengthen their teaching skills while earning continuing education units.

About the Online Preceptor Learning Platform

These online, asynchronous modules expand continuing education opportunities for midwifery preceptors and enhance training for students in clinical settings. They support New Jersey’s statewide strategy to improve prenatal health outcomes and strengthen the midwifery workforce.

Professional Development Activities

The New Jersey Midwifery Education Project supports preceptors in accessing diverse continuing education opportunities, including the American College of Nurse-Midwives Annual Meeting, the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health Annual Conference, and Spinning Babies workshops. These programs provide evidence-based training that strengthens both clinical practice and teaching skills.

Interested preceptors can contact the New Jersey Midwifery Education Project to attend the upcoming Thomas Jefferson University Vaginal Breech Birth Certificate.
