Terms and Conditions
1. Eligibility
- The competition is open to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students from accredited US academic institutions.
- Participants must be legally residing in the US for the entire duration of the competition.
- Teams must register by submitting their completed online registration form.
- Each team must also reply to the RAISE confirmation email following their registration to formally join the competition. Only teams that confirm their participation via email will receive the competition materials and be allowed to proceed.
2. Team Composition
- Teams are to be composed of 2-5 members. (Not less than 2 and not more than 5)
- Undergraduate track teams are to be composed of all undergraduate students only.
- Graduate track teams are to be composed of all graduate students or a mix of undergraduate and graduate students.
- All members of the team must meet the above-mentioned eligibility criteria. If any team member is ineligible, the team as a whole may be disqualified at the discretion of the RAISE organizers.
- A designated team lead shall be responsible for managing all submissions and serving as the primary point of contact with the RAISE team. Any change in team lead must be communicated via email to the RAISE organizers, with all current team members copied on the correspondence.
- Teams are expected to resolve any disputes internally. In case of any changes to team member names or team lead name, teams must notify RAISE organizers immediately via email, with all members copied. If the conflict cannot be resolved, RAISE organizers reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to:
- Disqualify the entire team from the competition (most likely scenario).
- Accept submissions from willing team members.
- Treat multiple submissions from the original team as separate entries from multiple teams.
3. Submission Requirements
- Team leaders must make submissions on behalf of the team and abide by all submission requirements provided to registered teams.
- The RAISE event dates and submission due dates are non-negotiable and must be adhered to.
- Shortlisted finalists will be required to attend the final round of the competition at Rutgers University in person.
- At least one member of the team must present in person. Failure to attend in person will result in disqualification.
4. Data Usage
- Participants may use the provided data solely for this competition.
- Data may not be posted publicly or used elsewhere (e.g., GitHub).
- RAISE administrators may make the data public after the competition ends.
5. Ethics and Code of Conduct
- Participants must adhere to a strict ethical code and all rules of Bloustein, Rutgers, and the State of New Jersey.
- Plagiarism, collusion, unethical behavior, and cheating are strictly prohibited. References must be cited in APA 6 or higher.
- Organizers may disqualify participants for violations at any stage.
- All information submitted must be authentic and true.

6. Intellectual Property Rights
- Participants retain ownership of their work, but not of the data.
- Work must be shared under Creative Commons license CC BY-NC 4.0.
- RAISE and Rutgers University may use, display, and share submissions and event media with proper attribution.
7. AI Use Policy
- Teams may use LLMs or tools like ChatGPT, Bard, or Claude.
- All AI use must be declared with prompts submitted as an appendix. References must be cited.
- There must be significant human input. Evaluation decisions are final.
8. Prizes and Awards
- 1st Prize: $1,000 per team member (up to $5,000 per team).
- 2nd Prize: $350 per team member (up to $1,750 per team, max 2 teams).
9. Judging Criteria
- Judging will be based on depth of analysis, method selection, and originality.
- Judges’ decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
10. Other Items, Updates, and Changes
- Organizers reserve the right to modify rules, schedules, or terms.
- Prizes may change based on funding availability.
- Winners are responsible for tax obligations.
- Participants bear all expenses for in-person attendance.
- All decisions of the organizers are final.
By participating in this competition, participants agree to comply with all of these terms and conditions.
