Research and Background: I’m interested in studying how social cognitions, biases, and stereotypes develop and operate within organizational and educational contexts. My research examines the social-cognitive mechanisms underlying the formation of gender and ethnic-racial stereotypes in STEM and leadership, with a focus on how these stereotypes influence facial perceptions and impressions. Before joining Rutgers,I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ohio State University.

Hiba Suhail
Doctoral student, Psychology
Research and Background: I am a PhD student in the Social Psychology program at Rutgers University – Newark. I am interested in implicit bias and social attitudes among criminal justice actors, with an emphasis on law enforcement officers. I am also interested in how criminal justice-involved individuals construct their criminal identities and the extent to which these identities influence their engagement in criminal behavior.
Prior to joining the RISC lab, I earned my bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Criminology at California State University, Fresno.

Anna Meuch
Doctoral student, Criminal Justice
Research and Background: I am a PhD student in the School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University-Newark. I am interested in the prolonged effects of incarceration, forensic mental health, and policy.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Intercultural Studies at Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, Illinois, and my Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, UK. Prior to my PhD studies, I worked as a Forensic Mental Health Occupational Therapist and the Assistant Director of Rehabilitation and Programming in a forensic mental health hospital and mental health prison units in Massachusetts, USA.
