Dr. Schindler teaches two main courses. The first is an undergraduate course entitled “Implications of the New Genetics” where students explore the ethical, legal and social implications surrounding modern genetic technologies. Taught in an active learning classroom, students engage in lively discussions, evaluate case studies and learn how genetics is rapidly evolving by incorporating breaking genetics news into the class. The second course is at the graduate level and is co-directed with Dr. Shuo Xiao. This course is entitled “How to make a good egg: a molecular perspective.” This mini-style course covers basics of mammalian meiosis, oogenesis, folliculogenesis and reproductive aging. Links to the syllabi can be found here.
