Eagleton Institute of Politics

SPAR co-sponsors events with the Eagleton Science and Politics Initiative. We also encourage our members to apply for the Graduate Fellowship Program in Politics and Government (there are typically a handful of scientists in every cohort) and the Eagleton Science and Politics Fellowship.

About JSPG - The Journal of Science Policy & Governance

Since 2011, the Journal of Science Policy & Governance (JSPGhas been the internationally recognized, open-access peer-reviewed publication that serves as a visible platform and vehicle for students, post-docs, policy fellows, early career professionals, and young scholars of all academic and professional backgrounds to contribute nuanced, bold, and innovative solutions to address the widest range of problems, threats, and opportunities at the intersection of science, technology, innovation, public policy and governance.

2-3 issues are published per year, including an annual policy memo competition in the spring. A team of SPAR students recently published a policy memo in JSPG on oyster farming and restoration which can be viewed online.

AAAS has provided mentorship and training to SPAR members through our group’s 2019 trip to Washington D.C. as well as the annual CASE workshop.

We encourage our members to consider applying for the Science & Technology Policy Fellowship (STPF) to gain experience in Washington D.C. after graduate school.

Rutgers Science Communication Initiative

Offers courses and workshops to the Rutgers community to improve our science communication skills.

Rutgers Department of External Affairs

Rutgers has built-in resources that get the word out about the good work that happens at Rutgers, and these offices have helped SPAR interface with legislators at the state and federal levels.
