Supported Employment (SE) is an evidence-based practice in which individuals with serious mental illnesses are provided with services to assist them in obtaining competitive work in the community and provides the necessary supports to ensure success in the workplace. This interactive training will explore the benefits of work and role of work in recovery for people with mental health conditions. We will provide an overview of SE at the state hospitals, discuss the barriers to employment and highlight some of the unique strategies the hospitals are using to prepare individuals for working in the community post discharge.
