Cognitive impairments in the inpatient setting are not just limited to those with developmental delays and brain injuries; cognition is impacted at all levels of illness, from congenital neurological difficulties, such as epilepsy, to typically seen psychiatric problems, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Recovery in an inpatient setting for those with cognitive problems is dependent upon a holistic approach to treatment that encompasses a variety of not only medication and therapy interventions, but also behavioral analysis and efforts to directly remediate cognitive challenges. The material presented in this webinar will provide a broad description of cognitive challenges associated with a variety of illnesses commonly seen in the inpatient setting and will discuss treatment in the context of a behavioral and rehabilitative approach.
