There has always been a misconception regarding electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). “It causes brain damage, permanent memory loss, it’s a “last resort” treatment, it’s not safe…” the list goes on and on. This presentation will highlight what type of patient is a good candidate for ECTs, what the contraindications to ECTs and treatment alternatives besides ECT for depression, including a discussion about Ketamine and TMS.
