PREP Webinar: Using Trauma-Centered Care & Sensory Mod to Promote Wellness in Inpatient Settings
Individuals with significant trauma histories often have difficulty processing sensory stimuli, which may result in isolation, self-harm, and other socially maladaptive behaviors. Patients get labeled as being "difficult" or "manipulative" when sometimes they are seeking or avoiding sensations that are triggering of past trauma. This webinar will address the need for mental healthcare providers to gain a deeper understanding of how trauma affects the nervous system and one’s ability to regulate emotions and behavior. We will be discussing strategies for using sound, touch, movements, smell, and other sensory interventions to help individuals increase their ability to self-regulate and promote overall wellness.
