About Us
Our Advising Philosophy
The Advising Center serves as a pillar of support to guide students through their academic journey. Through partnerships with their advisor; students will learn the skills to navigate the complexities of a rigorous nursing program. Advising is an integral part of the student experience and facilitates your path to becoming a future nursing leader.
How Can We Help
The Advising Center works with incoming and current nursing students in the 4-year Traditional program on both the Newark and New Brunswick campuses. Some topics we advise on include new student advising, academic planning, course schedule changes, registration, academic progression.
Student Testimonials
“The Advising Center has helped me so much with staying on track with my academics. Meeting with my advisors and the center is an amazing experience because they are always there to answer any questions I have and have given me great advice. I truly feel that my advisors are always here to help and I should not hesitate to reach out to them. Whenever I leave an advisement meeting I always walk away with a feeling of confidence that my advisors are putting me on the right path to get to graduation. When I meet with my advisors there is no fear of being judged or dismissed, but I feel a warm, safe environment where I can get the best assistance for my academic career.” – New Brunswick Sophomore (’22)
“The new advising center is so welcoming, along with the staff, who always resolves any issues/concerns I have on the spot. I’ve never met such staff members who are truly dedicated to their nursing students and will go the extra mile to ensure there are no obstacles in their education process.” – Newark Sophomore (’22)
“The School of Nursing Advising Center has been integral to my success at Rutgers. As a freshman, I quickly came to understand the importance of having an academic support system, and this support system was the staff of the new Advising Center. The advisory appointments I attended made me feel prepared and equipped to take on the rigors of Rutgers’ academics. After each appointment with my advisor or another staff member, the scheduling, class conflicts, or any other challenges I had run into were mitigated. I am grateful for the welcoming community of the Advising Center, where the staff is truly invested in my continued success here at Rutgers.” – New Brunswick First Year (’23)
