Peer Tutoring

The Office of Academic Success (OAS) is currently recruiting eligible students for our Peer Tutoring Program on a rolling basis, based on the evolving needs of our office. To be considered, students must meet the following criteria:

• Rising sophomore (for traditional program) or level 2 student (for second-degree program)

• A minimum grade of B or higher in all nursing courses

• A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher

Prospective tutors will undergo a 30-minute interview with OAS, where we will assess both academic qualifications and professional standards, including academic standing and adherence to academic integrity.

• Faculty Nominated Peer Tutors are eligible to tutor any course they have successfully passed with a B or higher. Students will be matched with tutors who are able to support a tutees current courses.
• Peer Tutors can also provide suggestions for academic success strategies including;
  • Tips for taking effective notes and reading your textbook
  • Strategies for balancing your time in nursing school
  • Utilizing Sherpath and EAQ questions to improve your understanding
  • How to study for an NCLEX Style exam
  • Understanding how to read your HESI Remediation report
• Different faculty member teaching the course? No problem. Peer Tutors are trained to guide students through content based questions based on the standardized curriculum, not the individual professor.
• Peer Tutoring is available for in-person and online to meet student scheduling needs.
• Students may request a peer tutor join their small group study session to help close knowledge gaps. Please note, small group sessions should be no more than five students.
