- We encourage any current Rutgers undergraduate student (or recent graduate, up to 3 years) to submit a manuscript to be considered for publication in the journal.
- Please ensure prior to submission that all parties that have worked on the article or project are aware of and approve of the submission (we require an authorship approval form to be completed with all submissions – please see the “How to Submit” tab on the submissions page for more information.

- We welcome most psychology-related submissions, including but not limited to original empirical research studies, theoretical papers, literature reviews, meta-analyses, and honors/senior theses. If you are submitting an empirical research article, all authors (e.g. faculty & graduate student mentors) should be listed on the google form in order of desired appearance on the paper. If you are unsure whether your work should be considered, please contact us at undergraduatejournal@psych.rutgers.edu.

- Yes, but they will only be accepted if substantially edited or added to since your initial submission. Please note that all papers will be entered through the Turnitin software to help ensure you are not self-plagiarizing.

- Issues are published once a year, and we anticipate that our inaugural issue will be published by May 2026.

- Yes. Submissions undergo an anonymized, double-blind peer review. Manuscripts are reviewed by our team of undergraduate editors who provide feedback. Multiple rounds of revisions and reviews may be necessary before a paper is accepted for publication.

- Upon submission, one of our designated committees will review your paper and come to a decision regarding whether or not it can be published. There are three different responses you may receive:
- Acceptance: Congratulations! Minimal additional edits are needed. Your paper will be published in the next issue of the journal.
- Revise and Resubmit (R&R): An R&R letter will ask you to revise and resubmit your paper based on feedback from our committee members. Pending successful revisions, we may offer a formal acceptance letter informing you that your work will be published.
- Rejection: A rejection letter may be issued if the paper does not meet the journal’s standards. The letter will include feedback from our reviewers and the opportunity to submit manuscripts for future issues.

- Our current, last rolling deadline for submissions is March 31st, 2026.

- If you anticipate collecting data in the spring and will have difficulty meeting earlier deadlines, we encourage you to submit a registered report to facilitate earlier reviews of your manuscript and timelier feedback. Registered reports should include a full introduction and methods section, along with a data analysis plan. Please see this link for more information on what a registered report is.

- Reviews generally take a couple of weeks, and we ask that any new revisions be submitted within two weeks after notification.

- If you are a current Rutgers undergraduate interested in psychological research, consider joining the uKnighted Minds editorial team! It is a two-semester commitment, with about 6 hours of work a week. You may receive up to 4 credits towards your psychology degree by participating. Please review our Get Involved page for more details.

- No, you do not necessarily need a faculty advisor to submit a manuscript. If it is a student paper, you may submit it on your own. If you are submitting a senior or honors thesis, please have an approved faculty advisor for your project and list all advisors (including graduate student mentors) as authors on the submission form. Please talk to all of your advisors to approve authorship order prior to submitting.
