A’Miyah Stadler

What it means to be Black

Vulnerable

Undescribed

Not taken seriously

Little Black girl

Light skinned Black woman

Fear of criticism

Existed in the margins

Sexualized entity

So many stereotypes

Cliches and comparisons

Exist as a full human being

Bold

Proud

Chameleons

Beautiful

Complex

Breathe and move as they should

A’Miyah Stadler is a senior Biological Sciences major from Rahway, New Jersey, expecting to graduate in January 2025. She says, “Something interesting to know is that my boyfriend is currently in the military and we have aspirations of traveling the world together.”

A’Miyah wrote this poem in a course taught by Lindsay Haber, who selected the piece for inclusion in WHR.
