Arav Kodali

I don’t understand you.

You say you love me:

My shape, my color, my taste.

The way

I blanket you,

The way

I fall.

You say it’s beautiful, so

I continue, falling, for you.

My cold touch,

You say it’s delightful.

Yet

When we meet,

You seek warmer comforts,

Saying

You like it hotter.

When you approach me,

You put up walls,

Saying

You can’t lay yourself bare to me.

You brush me away

saying I’m in your way.

Why do you treat me so?

I wonder and wonder

Yet still,

I cherish my time with you,

and you lament my departure.

I can’t stay long,

But I return as soon as I can.

When I arrive next,

I try to give you more of me.

I fall harder, quicker, and greater,

But you hide in the warmth.

You say I’m too much.

I can’t understand you.

Do you love me, or do you not?

In truth, you only enjoy me,

But as long as the temperature allows,

I will return

To you.
