Hari Iyer, ScD, MPH

Director, Geospatial Data Hub, Center for Climate, Health and Healthcare

Dr. Hari Iyer is the Director of the Geospatial Data Hub at the Center for Climate, Health and Healthcare. He is also an Assistant Professor within the Rutgers Cancer Institute.

His research examines how the places we live influence our risk of prostate cancer. He leads the Precision Prevention of Prostate Cancer Laboratory (PRE2 CAP Lab), which has two ongoing studies. The first is the Multilevel Epidemiology Tumor Registry for Oncology (METRO), a registry-based cohort study to examine environmental and geographic access barriers that contribute to poorer prostate cancer outcomes. The second is the Research on the Epidemiology of Prostate Cancer and Environmental Levels (REPEL), a prospective study of forever chemical exposures in water and serum in relation to adverse outcomes in prostate cancer survivors. In both of these studies, geospatial analysis is used to characterize residential exposures and spatial access to care. Please visit his laboratory webpage to learn more about our work.

Dr. Hari Iyer’s research is funded by Prostate Cancer Research, a UK-based charity and the National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences. He has coauthored over 85 peer-reviewed publications across multiple fields of public health, including cancer epidemiology, environmental health, and global health. He earned his ScD at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and completed postdoctoral training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
