Pelegri and Shreiber Receive NSF Award

Professors Mina Pelegri (MAE) and David Shreiber (BME) were awarded a 3-year $410,000 grant from the NSF for their project, entitled “Multi-Scale Modeling of Central Nervous System White Matter.” The project aims to develop a modeling framework to describe the continuum level material behavior of white matter based on a micro-kinematic characterization of the resident axons. The framework can then be used to improve the predictive capabilities of finite element simulations of brain and spinal cord trauma.
