Vat Aggregation

By integrating water eDNA sampling into on-farm operational workflows that wash fruits and vegetables, we can detect the presence of a variety of arthropod pests. For example, we’ve successfully detected the presence of Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) in two separate farms along Northeastern United States (Valentin et. al., 2018). One of these farms was outside the known extent of BMSB in the US, emphasizing the utility this aggregation method can provide in agricultural settings.

Below you can find a depiction of our vat aggregation workflow. If you have any questions about this method or its integration into routine agricultural practices, please feel free to reach out to us here.
