Mulch and Soil Collection
Some organisms utilize mulch (tree or yard waste) or soils as their habitat of choice for laying eggs, larval development, or as adults, leaving their DNA behind. We have devised a protocol to efficiently gather eDNA from a larger section of mulch than is possible from direct collection, and we have regularly utilized soil as a potential reservoir of eDNA. Below you’ll find a written protocol describing our mulch sampling methods. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us here.
