The Italian Graduate Society

The Italian Graduate Society (IGS) serves the scholarly community within and beyond Rutgers, by offering the opportunity to learn about, share, and engage with ideas, topics and research from the perspective of Italian literature and culture.

Over the course of the academic year, the IGS organizes events such as colloquia, round tables and workshops, aiming to bring together established scholars as well as graduate students, in order to discuss relevant topics within the field of Italian studies. It also organizes a biannual graduate conference, aiming to foster discussion from a variety of interests and perspectives.

The IGS also publishes La Fusta: founded in 1976, it is the oldest graduate journal of Italian Studies in North America. It alternates issues devoted to scholarly research, and to creative writings.
