Interests

I’m a literary historian, focusing on eighteenth-century Britain. Well, the long eighteenth century, which, as Earl Miner taught us, runs “from 1066 to World War I.” I write about Samuel Johnson; about literary forgery, fakery, and fraud; about Shakespeare’s Nachleben; about poetry; and about dictionaries.
