Wildflower Meadow

On the south-facing hillside below the Institute for Food, Nutrition, and Health (IFNH) the Wildflower Meadow was installed in 2016. It boasted a biodiverse assemblage of grasses and flowering annuals and perennials that decrease stormwater runoff and provide food and shelter for wildlife. In 2016, a Rutgers Newsroom article “A Wildflower Meadow Blooms at IFNH and Cook Campus Gains a New Outdoor Classroom” highlighted the early summer flowering herbs as well as the vision for the meadow as a living laboratory to provide experiential learning opportunities for students. In 2017, a subsequent Newsroom article “What’s in Bloom at the IFNH Meadow?” shown a spotlight on the meadow’s late spring perennials.
