MOMs DECIDE Provider Training
What is it for?
An asynchronous online training that you can complete at your own pace. It is an adaptation of the DECIDE intervention developed by a team at Harvard. This component of the intervention targets healthcare providers in training them to practice effective shared-decision making in their interactions with perinatal individuals.
Who is it for?
If you are a healthcare provider who interacts with perinatal individuals, this training is for you! We have had OBGYN and psychiatry doctors and residents, nurses, midwives, doulas, counselors, peer specialists, psychologists, social workers, sonographers, and other care providers who have provided positive feedback about the benefits of the training in better engaging and communicating with their perinatal clients.
Why is it important?
The MOMs DECIDE provider training includes key concepts like perspective-taking, planning and agenda-setting for shared decision making, recognizing attributional errors, and becoming a responsive provider, and provides illustrative clinical vignettes. Incorporating shared-decision making in perinatal care settings doesn’t just make you a better perinatal healthcare provider, it also directly improves patient engagement and patient outcomes in treatment.
