School of Graduate Studies and Constituent Graduate Programs:

  • Annual Women in Philosophy Mentoring Dinner (Philosophy Department): Annual dinner where female-identifying faculty and graduate students meet with undergraduates to discuss their personal experiences and the profession. 
  • Athena in Action: A Networking and Mentoring Workshop for Graduate Student Women in Philosophy: This annual workshop brings together a group of graduate students with a group of women faculty mentors for three days of substantive philosophical discussion and professional advicesessions.
  • Alumni-Student Mentoring Program (Professional Science Master’s Program): Designed to offer guidance to MBS students throughout their graduate journey by pairing them with high-performing MBS alumni who are excelling in their professional careers.
  • Institute on Teaching and Mentoring: SGS sponsors graduate students of color to attend this annual symposium hosted by the Compact for Faculty Diversity.
  • NRMN-CIC Academic Network: SGS is part of this national network offering mentoring resources and training for grad students, postdocs, and faculty.
  • Northeast Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (NEAGEP): Rutgers is part of this partnership comprised of 10 research-intensive institutions and 5 MSIs that develop mechanisms to recruit, support, and mentor underrepresented students in STEM.
  • Effective Research Mentoring of Undergraduates Workshop (SGS): This annual workshop — hosted by Evelyn Erenrich, Janet Alder, and Xenia Morin – is designed to equip postdocs and graduate students with the skills and tools for effective mentoring of undergraduates in research settings. 
  • Mentoring Up workshop (SGS): This workshop uses NRMN case studies and small-group dialogues to support grad students and postdocs in reflecting on their relationships with their advisors.
  • Research Intensive Summer Experience (RISE): In this 10-week summer research program, outstanding undergraduates from diverse backgrounds participate in cutting-edge research under the guidance of carefully matched faculty mentors.
  • Mentoring for Social Justice and Community-Building Project: A year-long, guided mentorship experience for graduate students to learn about aligning mentorship with social justice principles and serve as mentors for Douglass Residential College undergraduates.
