Symphony Band/Symphonic Winds rehearsals will not begin until 9/13 at 7:30pm

ALL NON-MGSA MUSIC STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO SHOW PROOF OF VACCINATION BEFORE PERMITTED TO AUDITION.  Due to current university policies, students with vaccine exemptions will not be able to audition on woodwind or brass instruments or participate in ensembles performing on these instruments.

If you are a non-MGSA music student and want to be considered for our highest level of ensembles, you must follow the same proceedings as the MGSA music majors.  Please find their guidelines here.
The information below will have you considered for Symphonic Winds & Symphony Band.

Date: Thursday September 8, 2022
Time: 7:00 – 9:00 pm — OPEN CALL
Location: Maryott Music Building, rooms 115 and 118 –

Students will be asked to play two short contrasting selections (approx. 5 minutes total) of their own choosing (something technical and something lyrical) in a relaxed meeting format with one of our faculty members in the band department. It can be a solo, etude, excerpt, etc.
Results will be posted following auditions and Symphony Band and Symphonic Wind rehearsals will begin on Thursday September 15th at 7:30pm
Students may direct all questions regarding non major wind auditions to Todd Nichols, Director of Bands –

NON-MAJOR PERCUSSION – Students will follow guidelines set by Area Heads Joe Tompkins (percussion). Students should contact the Area Heads for specific information regarding auditions for these instruments.
