Working/Earning

This chapter is called Working and Earning. It discusses how COVID-19 has impacted businesses and employees. Although businesses lost money or closed, some are thriving. Some employees were replaced with part-time workers who don’t have benefits such as healthcare or unemployment insurance. With that being said, many people were left jobless and eventually the rates for unemployment began to increase tremendously. Not only were these people left jobless but if they were to contract Coronavirus they wouldn’t be able to get any sort of treatment due to them having no more health insurance from their jobs. Furthermore, there were people who were considered essential workers who were unable to work from home, which caused many people to fear going back to work to possibly contract Coronavirus. Overall, this chapter touches on how COVID-19 has affected people’s working and earnings.
