Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed is currently serving as an Assistant Professor– Tenure Track in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hypertension, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and a Core Faculty Member at the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research, Rutgers Health, NJ.
Dr. Ahmed is driven towards the design and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and bioinformatics and biomedical informatics applications to support translational research and precision medicine. His lab focuses on highly innovative and collaborative scientific research. More specifically, they implement innovative multimodal AI/ML approaches to discover novel biomarkers and predict complex, known, and rare diseases in adults, children, and aging patients. In recent years, Dr. Ahmed’s research has been centered on examining cardiovascular, neural, and infectious disorders through multi-omics, sociodemographic, behavioral, and clinical data. His lab has employed various bioinformatics techniques to analyze variant and expression patterns associated with disease phenotypes, harnessing AI/ML approaches for precise disease susceptibility predictions.
Dr. Ahmed has published many open-source bioinformatics applications, AI/ML pipelines, gene-disease annotation databases, pilot projects, and conducted analysis focused projects. His featured scientific software applications include but are not limited to, Hygieia, GVViZ, VAREANT, JWES, I-ATAC, PAS, ANT-APP-DB, DRO-LIGHT, MSL, IntelliEppi, LS-MIDA, ISOTOPO, LIPID-PRO, PROMIS-Med, MAV-SEQ, MAV-Clic and IntelliGenes.
