Defining Artificial Intelligence (DefAI)
A Global Collaborative Inquiry by Scholars and Practitioners into Diverse Perspectives
on Critical AI Concepts, including Chatbots, Generative AI and Agentic AI

This collaborative research project aims to unlock the semantic black box surrounding AI.
The project will bring together 100+ co-authors, a team of lead-authors, and an editorial author.

We invite select esteemed scholars and practitioners from academia, industry, government, and nonprofit sectors to contribute their perspectives here:

Authors are expected to share their own original insights. Submissions will be collected through the
Collaboration Interface, and contributions will be synthesized,
edited and integrated into the final output, at least one major journal publication. Contributors will be credited as co-authors in the main journal publication.
