Secure Emails

As of June 2020, Rutgers transitioned from using ZIXSECURE to the built-in encryption of Office 365 (known as OME).

As a result of this, here are a few things you need to know:

  1. We must no longer use the keyword ZIXSECURE in the subject, body or email signature. Using this term can cause unexpected issues with the email recipient.
  2. The vast majority of external organizations use compatible technology to support this secure messaging method.
  3. In the unlikely event that the recipients email service is not using this encryption, the recipient will not see the content. Instead, they’ll be emailed a failure notice. If you or your intended recipient receives this notification, or other delivery failure notice, please contact RSDM IT to determine the best solution.
