Exploring Special Collections and University Archives: Why Study the History of the Book, the Archaeology of Texts

September 22, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

From Special Collections and University Archives at Rutgers University Libraries

Martin Antonetti,  Rare Books Assessment Librarian will speak on “Why Study the History of the Book, the Archaeology of Texts” at the next Exploring Special Collections and University Archives program on Wednesday, September 22 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The archaeology of the book–discovering clues in the physical medium of the codex–helps us understand how knowledge is transmitted from age to age. This talk will elucidate the “archaeological” approach that special collections librarians and archivists can bring to bear, particularly in the classroom.
