Students often have questions about courses that fulfill requirements such as Anthropology or History. Below are links to the course options available to nursing students on both the Newark and New Brunswick campuses:
New Brunswick Campus Course Options
Courses must be at least 3 credits and 100-level or higher. Students can transfer in general education & elective courses with a minimum of a C grade.
-
At the beginning of each semester, students need to complete the RUHere confirmation of attendance. Students that fail to complete the RUHere process may result in de-registration and financial aid will be canceled. Please make sure to complete the RUHere process prior to the deadline.
For questions about the RUHere process you can go to the respective pages for each campus or email ruhere@rutgers.edu.

At this time the School of Nursing does not take external transfer students. Current Rutgers students may apply for a School-to-School Transfer into the Nursing program. Attending an informational session with a member of the School of Nursing Admissions team is the first step in the School-to-School transfer process.
Visit the Admissions page here.
After meeting with Admissions students can meet with our designated School-to-School Transfer Advisor. Appointments are available at this time but please visit our School-to-School page prior to making an appointment.

At any point within the semester students may run into challenges or may need some extra support for a class. Below are some steps that can be helpful for students to seek out resources:
- Speak with your instructor/professor. Attend their office hours, send them an email, or ask to set up an appointment to clarify expectations or ask for help.
- Make a study group. Students can make their own study groups or use the feature on the RUN-4 Success Navigate app called Study Buddies to find a study partner. Currently only available for Newark students. More information to come for New Brunswick.
- Signup for tutoring. Tutoring is available to students through the Office of Academic Success for Nursing and Science prerequisite courses. Tutoring for General Education courses or non-science prerequisites is available through the Rutgers Learning Centers on their respective campuses: Newark and New Brunswick
- Signup for Academic Coaching. Sometimes students may have a handle on the course content but may struggle with how to properly study, prepare for tests, time management, etc. Academic Coaching is available through the Office of Academic Success.

Yes, School of Nursing students can pursue a minor if they are in good standing, have the space and time in their schedules, and have submitted a Minor Declaration Form for approval. Minors tend to be 18 – 24 credits which would be 6 – 8 courses in addition to the Nursing requirements. [School of Nursing Minor Policy]
A list of available minors can be found below:
Students should meet with their Academic Advisor once they have decided on a minor to discuss how it will fit into their academic plan.
To officially declare a minor student will need to be within their Sophomore year and complete the Minor Declaration form and submit it to Denise Santangelo (santange@sn.rutgers.edu).

Please follow the guidelines listed on our Withdrawal Process page.

The Rutgers CONNECT email account used for the School of Nursing email address (netid@sn.rutgers.edu) remains active & accessible only while a student is an active student; meaning enrolled in at least one course for the semester. If a student chooses to take a leave of absence, or is not enrolled for the semester, their CONNECT email account will be locked during that time. For more information, please view the University Email Policy here: https://it.rutgers.edu/knowledgebase/rutgers-connect-account-audits/.

Satisfactory Academic Progress is a requirement for all students receiving federal, state, or university assistance while enrolled at Rutgers. Financial aid recipients must meet both a qualitative (GPA) and a quantitative standard (completion rate) to maintain eligibility for aid. In addition, the student must complete the program within the maximum time frame. Quoted from the Rutgers Scarlet Hub
Students not meeting the minimum standards will be deemed ineligible for any future terms unless they successfully appeal. In order to appeal you will need to complete the following steps:
- Complete an Appeal for Financial Aid Probation form.
- Prepare a statement of why you did not meet the SAP requirements and what you will do to remedy that going forward.
- Set up an appointment with your advisor to review the notice and your academic plan within 30 days of notification.
- Your Advisor will then need to submit your appeal, statement, and academic plan to the Financial Aid Office for review.
Please visit the Rutgers Scarlet Hub website for more information and to access the appeal form: https://scarlethub.rutgers.edu/financial-services/eligibility/satisfactory-academic-progress-sap/
