Keep It Focused: Set goals! Elect a moderator (or have members take turns) to manage sessions, steer away from tangents, set group agendas, and keep everyone’s attention focused on the subject at hand.
-
Keep It Short: Regular, weekly sessions (no longer than 45 to 60 minutes) are far more effective than “marathon” sessions, and can prevent disruptive latecomers, early departed, and no-shows.
-
Keep It Quiet: Log in from somewhere that’s relatively quiet, such as a bedroom or office, to avoid distracting background noise. Resist the urge to check e-mail or engage in distracting activities.
-
Keep It to A Plan: Decide as a group what you would like to cover in a session ahead of time. Focus not only on practice questions, but also take time to identify and understand the key concepts.
Remember, you can request a tutor join you in your study group.
