Two 2026 Senior Design Capstone projects advised by Dr. Berg have both achieved successful demonstrations.
The first was a 750 lbf bipropellant rocket engine using nitrous oxide and isopropyl alcohol propellants. The team was comprised of seniors Sathya Balachander (SPACE Lab member), Ravi Patel, Samuel Mulvey, Aditya Sharma, Saahil Joshi, Thomas Tocci, and Ayaan Charaniya. Hotfire picture below:
The second was the successful demonstration of a 200 W Hall thruster using Argon propellant. Testing was conducted in the SPACE Lab vacuum chamber. The team was comprised of seniors Rebecca Fabian (SPACE Lab member), Andrew Huth (SPACE Lab member), Michael Scannicchio, Travis Knipping, Matthew Teo, and Michael Bettencourt. Image below:
