Give the Gift of Science!

Science has always had a lot on its plate, but this year the scientific community is working extra hard to help us understand and solve the many questions and crises we are facing in health, environment, and even the universe! As we go into the holiday season, one way we can give back to the science lovers in our life is to get them a gift that can give back to organizations helping to tackle some of these scientific conundrums. Who doesn’t love a fun item that also gives back? That’s why we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite gifts that give back to science for this difficult holiday season.

Rutgers Masks

Masks may not be the most festive but they are certainly a practical gift. These Rutgers Scarlet Knights masks give you a chance to show your Rutgers pride and give back. 30% of sales of the mask are being donated to the Feeding America COVID-19 Fund and Second Harvest.

Merch for Science

March for Science is a grassroots organization advocating for science informed policies around the world. Their merch helps them put money towards advocating for science justice and organizing for a more sustainable future. They have some great looking T-shirts!

Science Friday Pride T-Shirt

Science Friday is a public radio show working to communicate science to the public. While they have a lot of great merch to choose from 50% of the proceeds from these pride shirts go to oSTEM, a non-profit professional society for LGBTQ+ people in STEM.

Plant Trees, Save Orcas SHO bottles

If you’ve ever enjoyed a hilarious or entertaining post from IFL Science, then this might be the gift for you! IFL Science and One Tree Planted collaborated to sell these bottles. For every bottle purchased, 3 trees will be planted in the pacific northwest which, in turn, will then help replenish salmon populations and endangered orcas.

Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code is an organization that works to close the gender gap in technology and help set up a pipeline to support female engineers. If you’re not into pop-sockets they also have some awesome clothing merch in their store.

Adopt an Animal at WWF

The World Wildlife Fund helps conservation efforts all over the world to help preserve our natural resources. They focus on wildlife, food, forests, freshwater, oceans, and wildlife. When you symbolically adopt an animal through their site you not only donate to them, you get a cute plush toy as well. They also sell some other great apparel!

Planetary Society Print

The Planetary Society is a large non-profit organization dedicated to all things space. With CEO Bill Nye the planetary society fosters science education, public policy, and research. Their merch store has some really awesome items, like vintage planet wooden blocks, but this print (which is also featured on their T-shirt) really stands out.
