If you’re looking to pursue graduate school after finishing your undergraduate degree, one of the best ways to prepare yourself and stand out from other applicants is pursuing a post-bacc research position. Such jobs are competitive to get and in short supply, so it’s best to start looking early in your senior year.

Here are links to tips that others have compiled over the years:

And below is a table compiling different sources for finding post-bac jobs.

Other tips:

  • You can also use a more traditional job search platform and use keywords such as “psychology research”, “lab manager”, “research assistance”, “research coordinator”, etc.
  • Many research labs are also located within hospitals and universities, so looking at hospital/university specific job boards can be an unexpected place to find open research positions.
  • Sometimes professors who are active on social media will post when they are looking for a new lab manager.
  • Even if you can’t find a research specific job, a job in a related field where you perform statistical analyses, coordinate events or large numbers of people, or work on projects involving science can be good starting points!

Good luck on your job search!!
