We develop and test interventions to improve health and well-being.

The Compassion and Well-Being Lab is an interdisciplinary group who focuses on understanding and intervening on what makes people happier and healthier. We use various theoretical and methodological tools from social, biological, intervention, and contemplative sciences to understand and grow positive qualities of human mind such as compassion, mindfulness, and purpose in life. We then iteratively apply our strategies to change the ways our mind and body behave. We have applied these techniques, using in-person and mobile-based platforms, to intertwined dimensions of wellness, including physical activity, alcohol use, social connection, and loneliness.
