Monika Chung

Medical Student

Monika Chung is a first-year medical student at NJMS. She received a B.S. in Biotechnology from William Paterson University (2017) and an MPhil in Translational Biomedical Research from the University of Cambridge (2018). Additionally, she spent 2 years at the NIH as a post-baccalaureate fellow investigating the impact of age on breast cancer metastasis to the brain. In the Astrof lab, she is currently involved in a project seeking to identify and describe genes that may be associated with congenital heart defects. Monika plans to continue participating in biomedical research and in the future hopes to enter a career in academic medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, rowing, and playing the violin.
