Dina Refki, D.A. is the Executive Director of the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society (CWGCS) and Clinical Associate Professor at Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, University at Albany, State University of New York, CWGCS, an academic research and education center. Prior to assuming leadership at the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society in 2009, she held different positions at CWGCS including Director of the Women’s Leadership Academy (WLA). Refki is a graduate of WLA’s Fellowship on Women & Public Policy. For the last 17 years, she developed academic curricula and taught courses and workshops at the Academy. She currently teaches Advocacy for policy change and policy analysis. She lectures widely on the status of women in the US.
Refki researches the interplay of gender and institutional structures in the U.S and globally. She applies gender mainstreaming and gender budgeting analysis transnationally. Refki also researches women’s leadership and gender and conducts studies that monitor women’s progress toward gender equity domestically and globally. Refki works with many governmental and non-governmental agencies to close the research and practice gaps in gender equity, community development and wellbeing. She is the author of several gender-focused research publications. She holds a doctorate in Humanistic Studies and a Masters in Africana Studies from the University at Albany.
