Kathy Harrington Sullivan

Kathy Harrington Sullivan is the Assistant Director at the University of Illinois Systems Institute of Government and Public Affairs. In this role she is the director of the NEW Leadership Illinois program and the Douglas Award for Ethics in Government. She manages internal and external relations. Before coming to the university, Kathy worked in the political and government office of U.S. Senator Barack Obama as the Deputy Downstate Director. She has an MPA from the University of Illinois Springfield and degree in political science and communication from Millikin University. In 2012 she was awarded the DELTA award for Distinguished Employee Leadership and Team Award from the University of Illinois System. She was a member of the University of Illinois System Academic Professional Leadership Program in 2018 and served on the planning committee for the 2019 class. In 2020, she was selected as a member of the Leadership Illinois Class, a professional and leadership organization that brings together a group of diverse accomplished women. In 2021, she served on the planning committee for the alumni conference for Leadership Illinois.
