Carol McCarty

Project Lead

Carol McCarty is the NAGPRA Program Director at Rutgers–New Brunswick and a passionate storyteller who loves uncovering and sharing the hidden histories of people, places, and collections. She is especially excited to help tell the story of Manny the Mastodon, from how he was discovered to how he became a beloved part of the Rutgers University Geology Museum. Carol’s favorite part of her work is collaborating with scholars and students to weave together fascinating historical details with scientific discoveries, bringing the museum’s past to life in creative and meaningful ways. When she’s not digging through archives, she enjoys road trips, spending time with family and friends, and hanging out with her dogs and cats. Carol is incredibly proud that My Friend Manny celebrates not just Manny, but also the museum and the many people who have made it such a special place for generations.
